About Us

Local Residents Seeking to Meet the Paris Accords

Who is CALM? We are local residents volunteering to inspire our leaders, neighbors, businesses and institutions to take actions to a healthier, more sustainable and more equitable Lower Merion which meets or exceeds the Paris Accords. We are building a community of people who are on a journey towards a more sustainable life. We share our knowledge and experiences in a neighborly and collaborative manner. We offer training, an informative website and opportunities to get involved in local policy discussions.

We support:

  • Open and inclusive dialogue among government, residents, public institutions and businesses so we can all achieve this change together

  • Committment to community-wide adoption transitioning of the entire Lower Merion electric supply to clean renewable electricity by 2035, and all other energy usage to clean renewable energy by 2045.

  • Adoption of a Lower Merion Energy Transition Plan with concrete, measurable goals and timeframes.

  • Broader sustainability planning to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050 for the entire township.

  • Building a local resiliency plan to address the impacts of global warming.

  • Community education efforts to help residents and businesses transition to clean energy and to learn to be sustainable in their personal actions and choices.

  • Being positive and supportive in order to make the essential changes which can save our planet for future generations.

  • Working collaboratively with other organizations, the township of Lower Merion, the Lower Merion School District, independent and private schools, businesses, religious institutions and non-profits.

  • Creating ongoing public education and advocacy.
